    there are diff files posted earlier in the thread that probably address 6.2a. Other option is to search for thread titles with 6.2a in them, there sould be superpartch info in one of those threads. I know it's here somewhere...
    Two DSR7000s both at 6.4a/101 from slices; both originally sleepered version 3, then 4.01b, 6.2, 6.2a.

    Hello All,

    One of my S2s pulled down the 9.3.X9-01-2-140 update.

    I have been monitoring this forum for 9.3 info but have not seen any yet. Does anyone have the NOCSO patch for 9.3?

    Any help is appreciated.

    I just pulled down the 9.3 update on my Toshiba SD-H400. I yanked tivoapp out of the GZcore slice I captured, and it appears to have the same NoCSO and backdoor patch locations that Omikron posted here for the S3 version of this update. I haven't installed the new sw yet, but will later today and will check if the patches work.

    edit - yep, the patches Omikron posted work.

    Superpatch for 9.3/9.3a

    Here is the full Superpatch for software version 9.3/9.3a specifically the version I ported was: 9.3-01-2-649 [S2 Dual-Tuner]

    I've tested this lightly but encryption is definitely disabled and MRV is working between other S2's as well as TivoHD.

    Paste this into your Superpatch.tcl

    Code:
    array set patch_9_3 {
        0x0aa4170 "14400026 10400026"
        0x07344c4 "00008021 24100001"

        0x0f6eff0 "0c81e040 00001021"

        0x10dbdd8 "0c1e1799 00000000"
        0x10e3d90 "0c1e1799 00000000"
        0x10e3e1c "0c1e1799 00000000"
        0x10dbba0 "0c1c027b 00000000"
        0x10dbc50 "0c1c027b 00000000"
        0x10dbce8 "0c1c027b 00000000"
        0x10e3b78 "0c1c027b 00000000"
        0x10e3c2c "0c1c027b 00000000"
        0x10e3ce0 "0c1c027b 00000000"
    }
    And add this regexp at the bottom:
    Code:
    } elseif { [regexp {^9\.3a?-01-2} $sw] } {
            set a "patch_9_3"
    And here's the md5sum of the virgin 9.3 tivoapp:
    Code:
    bash-2.02# md5sum /tvbin/tivoapp.original
    82bd93721ff27e41b00f0a578c982af6  /tvbin/tivoapp.original
    FYI - for those still curious about the continued need for superpatch. A non-superpatched Series 2 WILL MRV with Series 3 tivos (at least a NoCSO'd TivoHD); however it WILL NOT MRV with other superpatched Series 2's (no surprise there). I will test whether simple NoCSO'd (no full superpatch) Series 2's can MRV with each other once my 240 gets the software update. At any rate, have fun!

    EDIT: I attached a diff file for convenience. Although it contains most of the patches consolidated by diamondsw, for simplicity sake it should be applied to the "superpatch-67all-NutKase-1.2.tcl" file Jamie posted here.

    EDIT2: Attached updated diff file to support the 9.3a S3 software releases. Patch locations are the same; updated regexp per Jamie's comment below.

    Like so:
    Code:
    $ patch -o superpatch-93a.tcl superpatch-67all-NutKase-1.2.tcl < super93a.diff.txt
    With "-o superpatch-93a.tcl" being the name of my output file.

    Hello Scanman,

    Thank you for posting the 9.3 superpatches. I have applied the patch to one of my S2s successfully. Everything, works as advertised.

    To summarize I have successfully applied your posted 9.3 superpatch to Tivo software version 9.3-01-2-140.

    Again Thank you for the hard work.

    Hey ScanMan, can you give us a quick rundown of what all of these other patches do? I looked through the thread and I'm sure the answer is there but I'm not really seeing it. Do you really need all of those patches just to get MRV working with other patched boxes?

    I am certainly NOT the tivoapp patch expert but I'll share what I think I've gleaned from lots of reading. Most of the additional patches are selective blowfish encryption kills. Historically, this was necessary for SA tivos to MRV unencrypted (NoCSO) video and also to MRV with DTivos not in the SA group cert. The "selective" approach was also necessary to correct failed phone-home calls that occurred when using global blowfish kills.

    However, since 9.x, AFAIK, SA tivos can longer MRV with DTivos anyway due to a change in the MRV protocol and all MRV units must be running 9.x software. So the historical reasons for the full superpatch may no longer apply. Although one bonus I understand is that MRV net traffic b/w superpatched tivos remains unencrypted and in the clear though I haven't sniffed post-9.x so I can't confirm this.

    Here's an update to my "experiment" above - after receiving the 9.3 s/w upgrade on my S2 240, I applied just the NoCSO/Backdoors patches to my S2's (240 and 649). My TivoHD still remains at 9.2a. I can report that I am able to MRV sucessfully between the S2's as well as between the S2's and S3 with just NoCSO patches in place. Once you superpatch any of the units, it will only MRV with other units that have been superpatched. I have been running just NoCSO so far, watched a complete show via MRV on my TivoHD from the 240 last night. If I get some spare time, I'll try to sniff the wire a little with superpatched units and see if it's in the clear.

    In sum, I've run all superpatched units post 9.x until now (9.3) and I even ran the 9.3 superpatch for days on my 649, so I it doesn't "harm" anything. However, the full superpatch may no longer be necessary at least as far as MRV is concerned. So if you choose not to use the full superpatch, just use the NoCSO/Backdoors for 9.3 that Omikron posted in the 9.3 support thread, they're the same for S2 and S3 units, just confirm your md5sum matches to be absolutely sure.

    I welcome any corrections or additional insight anyone may have regarding these observations and assertions.

    Yes, I'll be sure to use my own patches that I ported. ;-)

    That said, perhaps we've come to the time where we can drop all of those extra patches. It would clean things up a bit and it would certainly be less work to port them for new tivoapp binaries. In facted, I kept porting the old NoCSO patch through several software updates before realizing that it was doing nothing. Anyone who has issues with MRV between boxes could simply repatch from original tivoapp backups using only the necessary patches.

    Also, those patches that I posted seem be only partially backwards compatible with the S2 tivoapp, at least for now. The "Backdoors" patch seems to be the same bot the "No Encrypt" patch seems to be slightly different.

    It's worth testing whether you can MRV both encrypted and unencrypted shows with a minimally patched tivoapp. I know parts of the original superpatch were there to handle both those cases, at least for the S2<->S2 case.

    Ha, yeah that was intended more for others who might read the post.

    Really? When I was porting the superpatch for my S2DT, I got the same location. And I know encryption is disabled b/c aside from ciphercheck, I already extracted a show and burned it to DVD.

    As I said, strangely I have not received the 9.3 update yet for my TivoHD. I will recheck the NoCSO location for my S2 tivoapps; I can tell you that the md5sum was exact for both the 240 and 649 generation 9.3 tivoapps.

    Good point Jamie. I don't know if I actually have any encrypted shows anymore but I could create one for testing purposes.

    As an aside, I notice log entries now during MRV to the effect that "Recording is not encrypted on disk so it will be sent in the clear." Either I never noticed those entries before, or they're new.
