I was actually going to suggest this, as I've seen them do great jobs for other projects (OnMac.net, at least until BootCamp came along) and internally at work. They keep information organized, up-to-date, and encourage participation. The only reason I didn't suggest it is I don't know how/where it would be hosted and supported.

The alt.org wiki has been around for years.

True, but it's a little sparse and outdated. If there was something with active community support, that would be a nice. Personally I also prefer the actual MediaWiki web app. But then... who has the time, right?

Okay, not much if anything has been said about DTivo 2.5 (R10, etc) going to ver. 6.1a. I upgraded my R10 (hacked of course) manually. Anyone have any idea which superpatch will work on this unit? Any help????

    Hello,

I am trying to apply superpatch to my 6.2a install on a HDVR2 and am getting the following error message. Anyone know how I can fix this and install superpatch?

    (none):/superpatch$ ./superpatcha-6.2a.tcl

You're root partition is full, delete about 25Meg of stuff and run it again.

Go back a few pages in this thread and read from post #535 on.

Your root partition is full, possibly because you have orphaned inodes (solution: run e2fsck) or because you improperly installed AlphaWolf's all-in-one package (solution: delete it and reinstall it according to the instructions).

Which command options do I need to specify. When I issue the command it gives me the following:

    (none):/sbin$ /sbin/e2fsck hda4
    e2fsck 1.06, 7-Oct-96 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
/sbin/e2fsck: No such file or directory while trying to open hda4

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

    (none):/sbin$

I ran ls -l and got these results:

    (none):/$ ls -l

I'm considering adding in the patches found by tivo4mevo here; these add a "Phone and Network Settings" menu to the Tivo interface, just like the Tivo 7.* and later. No more netconfig.tcl! However, since this would expand the scope of the patch, I wanted to see what the community thought of it first.

As before, I would release a patch from both the latest version (1.7) and the last release version (1.2).

Diamondsw, nice signature line. I'm considering saying 'check diamondsw's signature for everything you need'.

If we were talking about TivoApp patches, you could also add the 'bufferhack' patch, so you could extend the live-tv buffer from 30 minutes to 60 minutes...

You could add these patches 'commented' including 'mevos' (just like one can comment/uncomment the 30-sec patches). This way if somebody really needs them, they can edit the superpatch file and uncomment them.

A good idea, but there are a few things that would prevent at least me from doing it (maybe someone else would be willing?):
    • It's much more complicated than just a tivoapp patch
    • Its development schedule doesn't seem to match up well with the rest of the superpatch
    • It requires user input (length of buffer)

I'll still look at it, but the relative complexity makes me lean towards leaving it separate.

If people don't mind my expanding the scope of the patch, I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea to enable it by default. I was quite impressed - it handles wireless setup and everything (been a while since I had a 7.x machine to see this in action).

As you can tell, I have tested the updated superpatch, and it works beautifully with 6.2a. Hats off to tivo4mevo!

(As a complete aside, I find it hilarious that with my newly-minted 100 post count, I am a "Senior Member". Nevermind that most of those posts have been of the variety "Help! Help!". )

    Superpatch-678all 1.8

    Patch verified as working correctly.

    • Updated with the "Phone and Network settings" patch by Tivo4mevo. This only affects DTivo's with software 6.2 or 6.2a.
    • Reorganized patch slightly (put all software versions in order, but results in a one-time larger diff)

    Latest Official Release: superpatch-67all-NutKase-1.2

    Code:
    patch -o superpatch-67all-NutKase-1.8.tcl < superpatch-1.2to1.8.diff.txt
EDIT: Working version of patch here. The latest version of AlphaWolf's AIO TivoTools uses busybox for patch, which doesn't support "-o".

FYI, I was the one who tested it with him. Did it on a Hughes 80GB model running 6.2a. Currently updating my other models (Philips 40GB, and Hughes 40GB)
