bootpage HELP QUICK please!

I'm on my way to getting 6.2 on, doing the bootpage hack and it's not working.

PTVupgrade /cdrom# ./bootpage/bootpage -p "root=/dev/hda4 dsscon=true console=2,115200 upgradesoftware=false" -C /dev/hda

When I hit enter, I get

Error opening device root =/dev/hda4 dsscon=true console=2,115200 upgradesoftware=false!

What am I doing wrong!?? Also, I have /hda substituted for /hdc in the directions because I have my drives set up differently. hda = tivo drive hdc=cdrom. This has worked fine. What's going on?
