    Backup of Kernel

I have an HR10-250 that I hacked a while ago. I wan't to backup my killinitrd'ed kernal so I can let it upgrade to the current version. Can I backup the kernal using FTP or do I have to pull the drives out?

    Sorry for the newbie question...

Assuming the boot (kernel) partition is /dev/hda3:

    dd if=/dev/hda3 of=/var/vmlinux.px bs=1024k

    Thanks Bill for the reply,

I know that is how I do it by pulling the drives out of the tivo, but is there a way via telnet/FTP was what I was trying to find out. Thanks

The command here will work via telnet.
