    Hi

Sorry if this is already on the post somewhere.

Does anyone know what port TyTools connects to Tivo on? I would like to setup port forwarding on my router to forward requests to my Tivo so I can use TyTools to download files from anywhere, not just on my local network.

    Thanks in advance.

The port is 3565. Not sure you want to do that the transfer speeds out can be rather slow. A standard 1 hour show takes me 6 to 8 minutes to download to my PC on my intranet but to an outside location Comcast really hits the upload speed and it takes 6 hours.

Hey guys, I'm having a really big problem. I can't seem to get my mpgs to come out with the video in sync with the audio. Sometimes, they are WAY off. What am I doing wrong? I parse the file and enter the offset before muxing, but it's just not helping. Any input would be really appreciated.

Greeting all, I'm new to extraction, but have been hacking my Tivo's for years.

I've got a HR10-250 running 6.3b. No matter what I do, and I've been trying various options for 3 days, the final mpeg I get is never perfect. It seems to be pixelated and jumpy about every 10 seconds. Using tyshow, the .ty files play perfectly, it's the muxing that seems to be the issue.

I have read and read, I just want to know: Can an HD program be pulled from the tivo and converted to mpeg perfectly? No one seems to have a definitive guide or answer on it.

I've tried the guide in the yahoo groups, but I get the same issues.

Thanks, and you will be seeing more of me around!

    Use tytompg

The current tytool does not handle extracted files properly. The mux to mpeg fails frequently and if it does not fail there are often other issues. Try downloading in the ty format from tytools but mux it using tytompg from the tytompg thread. It is activly supported and Josh ( tytool author ) has not been seen for a long time so I would not expect any updates to correct the current situation. My 2 cents only of course. I always appreciated the "one stop shop" of tytool handling all my needs but things change.

If you extract via TMF then you can pull the TY file out with tmf2ty_cfg.exe

    TiVo - > TMF - > TY - > editing - > MPG - > XVID

The above is my process and usually works 90% of the time. Sometimes the TY file is damaged and has to be chopped up with "tychopper" to get rid of the junk then it can be processed.

There have been some known problems with 6.3x and extractions, and for that reason (personal experience with the problems) I have elected to stay at 3.1.5.

    Thanks for the tips.

I've just converted using tytompg and it seems to have worked correctly. Now I"m pulling off a HD movie and will try it.

According to tytool I'm getting 1.6 meg/sec. Is this a good speed? From what I've read, it seems that it's on the low end of "acceptable".

    Exciting work!

    Thanks again...

I can't speak to using tytool to pull from the TiVo (I use MFS_FTP to pull everything). But that does seem low.

Make sure you have both tuners set to non-existant channels (I.E. 0 and 1). With that being done and assuming you are using the backported drivers and have your tivo hacked correctly you should be seeing something around 3-3.5 meg/sec.

I'm going to setup mfs_ftp today. I've got the rest setup correctly, as far as I know that is. I'll post my results later...

I extract to ty file. Due to it's convenience I use Tytool to mux the file. If the mpg produced is smaller than the ty file I use tytompg.

Most of the time my transfer rates are ~2.4 m/s, but I have been down to ~1.5 m/s.

Are you having a problem with Tytool necessitating that you look at mfs_ftp? I did the mfs_ftp install and got it working OK. Make sure you use the directories they recommend. It can be problematic if you install it in a read-only directory like I did.

I tried mfs_ftp because I was having problems with truncated files. It turned out Tytool was extracting perfectly everytime. The problem was that when I muxed it sometimes truncated the resultant mpg file. In these cases I use "tytompg".

Guys, my problem seems to be different than WeBoat's. My audio/video sync is way off. The audio is ahead of the video. Sometimes as much as a couple seconds or more. Because of this, extraction is not really usable. I know this can;t be the casefor the rest of you. Otherwise, people wouldn't bother extracting. As I said before, I i tytool download in ty mode, parse and set audio offset before muxing. I have also tried using the tytompg.exe method. Neither is working for me.

Please help if you have any ideas. I'm worried I may not be able to use any shows.

The above is only a small, copied excerpt. It goes on continuously, meaning the above errors are pages long and run constantly while the key file is trying to be generated.

This occurs regardless of whether I recorded an HD program/movie or an SD one. Note: No OTA recordings here, so that's moot.

If I proceed to continue, then make the .vob file and IFO, the final DVD file, it is so horribly choppy both video and audio-wise that one cannot watch it. However, the original recording is flawless--no choppiness, no pixelization, nothing.

Any ideas as to what can be causing this problem when using TyTools14 and if there's a way to fix this?
