The ty file is 7088 MB but multiplexing stops after 4176 MB which is just over an hour into the movie. No error, just says "Done with ....". Ideas?
    Is there any fix for this? I am only able to mux 8GB of a 21GB NFL game.

    Sounds like your ty files has the "broken" problem.

    See my instructions here.

    If the files do this after burning I'd found out that if you burn at a lower speed helps.

    Now maybe I am getting somewhere. I took a ty file muxed to mpg by TyTool. Playback on Windows MediaPlayer was jerky, but played in Nero showtime was fine. So there was no problem with the file after all.

    So the muxed files are fine. Thanks for the pointer.

    I then read the posts in your link above. Very helpful. There were many comments on VideoReDo. I downloaded a trial version. Very nice interface. Easy to operate. I will probably purchase it.

    I am trying to get it straight in my head.

    I can do everything in TyTools, but would prefer some more advanced editing and authoring capabilities. So I can use VideoReDo for the editing and DVD-Lab for the authoring.

    Here is where it gets a bit gray for me. I am trying to get the video on DVD and maintain the highest quality possible. It seems everytime the video is re-encoded I will lose some PQ.

    It seems if I do everything in TyTool I can do this, but there editing and authoring are limited.

    I think I will do some tests with VideoReDo and DVD-Lab to see what I get.

    Thanks!

    I posted this to the wrong thread. I am moving it here.

    I would prefer to use Sony Vegas (studio) as I already own it. Has anyone solved the audio sync probs rbautch mentions here?

    If not I guess I will go ahead and buy VideoReDo.

    UPDATE- I just took a ty file muxed it to mpg via TyTool. Placed it Sony Vegas. I clicked "make a movie" for just a small region of about 5 minutes. I did not experience any audio syncing issues. Is this most often seen over the length of a movie?

    Yep....you can fix that by using tychopper. You need to remove the offending frames using the method that I posted.

    Somehow I was able to mux the entire file with tytool. Unfortunately Videoredo doesn't like the file. When I try to save it as a .ts it bombs.

    OK I get that.

    I played more with DVD-Lab. Ran my first trial. You seem to use it a lot. Can you answer a couple questions?

    1- Preview with sound- I was trying to set chapter marks , but found it difficult to do without sound. I put the TyTool created mpg in the project. It recommended demuxing to elementary stream so I did. It placed the video in the video track on the timeline and created a mpa file and placed in the audio portion. No matter what I did I could not get audio. Yes, the speakers were turned on. Just kidding. The sound was working for everything else on the PC, just could not get sound in DVD_Lab. It is something simple?

    2- How can I be sure it is not re-encoding- Again, I am using DVD-Lab since it will accept the 480x480 Tivo file. How can I tell during compile or elsewhere it is not going to re-encode and lose quality?

    3- Is there an advantage to using a VOB over an mpg in DVD-Lab? Quality?

    Thanks!

    TyTool Errors

    I can extract an .ty file without problem. Anything else I get this...

    Sorry... Failed to get the first 10 initial chunks...
    Have to have at least that many to start the analysis phase...

    DiffTime = 0.000000 (0) == 0.000000 Minutes

    total = 1310720 (1 MB)

    If I try to parse, I get the same thing.

    Have you disabled encryption?

    I have a HDVR2. I just put a 300gb drive in it and I used InstantCake to make the drive. I then used the PTVnetwork tools to put TyTool10r4 on to it.

    I never saw any place to turn encryption off. How would I do that?

    Thanks for the hint. I think I figured it out.
