Question Load a .tcl file from IDE

    Hi all,
I have upgraded my hard drive in my Tivo S2 SA box. I want to load/install a .tcl file on it which contains IR codes for my reciever. Is there a way I can just load/install that file without going through the whole "hacking" process? I'd like to be able to just hook up the new larger Tivo drive in my computer, copy the .tcl file to it, run/install it and have it work. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

You need to break the chain of trust to install any file that isn't part of the stock OS or it will get wiped at bootup. In other words, you need to hack the Tivo to do what you want.
Please don't PM me or any other members looking for personal assistance. You'll do better by posting (after you've exhausted the search feature, of course) and taking advantage of the collective expertise of the membership instead of a single individual that may or may not be able to help you. Thank you and enjoy your stay at DDB!

Even if this file just replaces the IR codes of another receiver brand? In other words, there is a brand of receiver already in Tivo's list, I want to copy my IR codes over one of the brands. Will Tivo still try to wipe it out if it is just replacing ther IR codes? Thanks again!

The Tivo initrd process at bootup erases any file which doesn't match the internal initrd signature. Copying a new file which "doesn't belong" or changing a file so that the sig no longer matches will result in things being erased.

Unless you have Tivo Inc.'s initrd digital signature to sign your IR file, then you need to hack your box to do what you are trying to do.
