sounds very much like the event bug... I didn't change any event handling for TWP2 (didn't touch it, since my s/w doesn't support it) but I don't know what else may have been modified.

Ah! This does sound like it! However, I have heard that others were able to kill the bad process. I'm not even able to telnet in! I never had this problem before upgrading to twp 2. Maybe it's the 30 second skip, though I don't use the native sendkey. Well, now I know what to google - Thanks for the tip!

Sorry to bother the good forum members again so soon - I was unable to find an answer via google. I am concerned about the following entry in my log file and was wondering if anybody could tell me how to debug the problem or it it is a bug. I suspected duplicate entries in sysinit and sysinit.author, but this is not the case.

    /var/log/tivoweb.log/

    (snip)
    -Registered update
    -Registered whatson
    - [09/Apr/2007:20:11:26] saving module_cache.cfg
    Loading completed in 100 seconds
couldn't open socket: address already in use
    while executing
    "socket -server ::session $::conf(Port)"
    (file "./httpd-tt.tcl" line 33)
Warning: An http server was already running
Error: The last session did not complete successfully
Exiting to prevent possible reboot loop
Please check the logs and rerun tivoweb when the problem is fixed

you can check netstat -l to see if any other process is holding the port... I assume when you connect to the port, you don't get a TWP page.

a server that's been bitten by the event bug will hold the port open but be nonresponsive

p.s. did you check the OLD tivoweb log file, to see if there's any info there?

    no listings in Upcoming Showings

tivowebplus-v2.0.0-070410, but i've seen it in previous builds too.
    S2 Dtivo, 6.2a.

While checking for conflicts, I click the title of a show, which take you to the "Now Playing" and "Upcoming Showings" for that title, but the upcoming list is empty, same thing for any title I try.
    EX:

    192.168.1.100 - - [18/Apr/2007:03:37:53] "/series/2338216" (1387780)

So i login to check the logs, and nothing interesting that I see for the past few hours, but while checking a new entry gets logged:

    - [18/Apr/2007:03:52:12] running CleanupGlobals
    --closed ::MOD::key_Program

Now the listings are working again.
    Puzzled.

I used to have problems on my S1 SA with the older tivowebplus that I assume is the "event" bug but it would usually take more than a week to manifest. I've had at least one instance of TWP becoming unresponsive within two days of a boot with 2.0.

Is there any defined procedure to deal with the "event" bug other than a reboot?

ronsch - You could perhaps try running eventswitchfixer from cron if you get cron going:
    http://www.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/S...EvtSwitchFixer

Actually, it looks like there is a script to add to rc.sysinit.author. I think I'll try it myself to see if it solves my freezing problem.

netstat -l isn't a valid option on tivo's netstat, but netstat -t shows www when you use twp.
    bash-2.02# netstat -t
    Active Internet connections (w/o servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
    tcp 0 0 10.42.42.3:ftp 10.42.42.100:33233 ESTABLISHED
    tcp 0 0 10.42.42.3:ftp 10.42.42.100:54064 CLOSE_WAIT
    tcp 0 0 10.42.42.3:telnet 10.42.42.100:34283 ESTABLISHED
    tcp 1 0 10.42.42.3:www 10.42.42.100:53784 TIME_WAIT

The funny thing is, twp seems to work fine. It just has that error in the log which I found when trying to debug my crash. (suspect event bug)

I did check the old log, thanks for asking.

Thanks for the link helpdeskdan. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

No prob - my freezes are rare, so it will probably be a couple months before I can be sure my problem is solved. Let us know how it works - I think it might be a good addition to hackman.

FYI - I'm still try to figure out why my log file says:
    (file "./httpd-tt.tcl" line 33)
Warning: An http server was already running

(See previous post) Everything appears to work, I'm just concerned why there is an error. Thanks!

re: event bug... I'm actually referring to the nano sleep of death one, which causes a tcl script to stop executing and eventually crashes the tivo... this can be caused any time after a script calls the tivo event system directly

re: no upcoming showings... I haven't run across that problem, but if it started working again after that message, a quick reload should help at those times, too

Thanks, BTUxNine. I hope that it is related in some way to the other event bug because I can't find any solution for nanosleep bug. No crashes yet, we'll see. If anybody has more info, please post - Thanks!

I still find it odd that twp 2 was the first I had problems with this. I have an original Tivo - it hasn't had a new system version in a long, long time.

I am currently experiencing a problem with the GDchecker module within TWP 2.0.0 on my Series3. Specifically, in regards to checking for orphaned Season Passes. Although the columns don't line up perfectly, the effect is the same. It seems not to read the guide information properly, and begins to get things quite mixed up only a several lines down:

Additionally, the "Date vs. Channel Grid" checker shows red hash marks for every channel for every day. I'm not sure this is proper operation. Is there any additional information I can post to help debug this?

AFAIK, gdchecker is really most useful for people who roll their own guide data (most often running tivos in other countries)... it isn't really designed for nor well supported on s2 and s3 machines

That's unfortunate because it looks like a fantastic way of eliminating deprecated Season Passes. Is there really no interest from other users to get this feature working?

Question Adding a link to Tivoweb's list of modules?

It will be immediately apparent that I have no clue what I am doing , but with that said.

    I have a dsr704 running 6.2a and I am using TivoWebPlus v2.0.0-070410

I would like to have a module create a link on the main TivoWebPlus page, so I could click it and go straight to Thomsonís webpage or dealdatabase or anywhere else.

I realize this is somewhat pointless, I am just interested on how it would be done.

If I create a module with the following:

    $chan "[html_link "http://thomson.tivo.googlepages.com/TivoWebPlus"]
register_module "link" "Thomson Tivo Link" "Go to Thomson's TiVoWebPlus page"

It shows up when I restart TivoWebPlus, but it doesn't work, and I'm sure it is not even close to working. If anyone can help that would be awesome
