Well to no avail, I was not successful with the Linksys USB200M ver. 2.0 either. I have resigned to the fact that the 140 hour Tivo networking capabilities are hopeless. I did verify that the Linksys USB200M ver. 2.1 will work with software version 8.1 (I connected the 40 hour Tivo purchased from Ebay). I think I will purchase a 180 hour Dual Tuner with Etherner port, and forget my problems ever existed. Anyone need a good 40 hour Series 2 or a 140 hour Series 2 with busted USB ports? Thanks again for all the advice and help.

I did purchase a new Dual Tuner 80 hour and decided to put the 140 hour HD in the new 80 hour DT. Thanks again for all the advice and help.

My Linksys 200m v2.0 (about 3 years old) died the other day. The only wired USB adapter I could get locally was the Linksys 200m v2.1 . It works flawlessly.

It looks like the 2.0, just a bit shorter (say 1/4"). Its RJ45 connector is a better design than the 200M v2.0 (much sturdier). I had to use zip ties to hold the ethernet cable in place on the old v2.0, or any little movement would pop the cable out. The v2.1 clicks solidly in place.

That said, I'll probably zip tie this one anyway to Kid/dog/cat/wife proof it.

Having trouble getting usb200m ver. 2.1 to work for me. Please provide what s/w version you were running, what kernel, and what backport drivers you used. I assume from your post that you had the drivers working for the version 2.0, and then connected the replacement ver. 2.1 and it just worked. I am trying to get it running on a S2 Dtivo, running 6.2 and 2.4.20 kernel.

EDIT: Got it working. I noticed in my bootlog that I was getting this error:
    Code:
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x13b1/0x18) is not claimed by any active driver.
So I added the following line to my /etc/hotplug/usb.map file, under device ax8817x:
    Code:
        product 13b1 0018 Linksys USB200M ver. 2.1
This worked, the usb200m lit up and I can ftp/telnet in to the tivo now. Strangely, the above error did not go away, but at least its working.
