I also sent him a PM about getting this done, now I wish I could just find someone that has the prom's for sale and I will do it myself. I found out a buddy of mine has all the tools to remove the old prom and socket the new one. He has the microsope, the solder reflow equipment and an IR oven if I needed that. I could even program the prom if I had the code to do it he has that stuff too. Just wish I could find the info that I need.

don't think all the "me too" posts are gonna help too much. he doesn't respond to email or phone calls, so the forum is probably pretty low on the list. he'll be back if/when he comes back.

I'm surprised Omikron didn't at least do a final post and confirm he's no longer performing any PROM services. Given the state of the economy I'd think he would at least have a qualified co-worker who'd be looking to make a few extra $$.

Is it possible he received a letter from tivo's legal department?

He left the door open for a possibility of doing it again. But he hasn't posted here, and at another Tivo bulletin board in many months.

I wish he would have just raised his prices...therefore slowing the demand and getting a greater value for himself.

I myself would be happy to pay $100 - $200 for the parts and $500 - $1000 for the turn-key service. I understand that I would be the exception...but that is the point...fewer requests and more money.

Hopefully he will read this.

I've done one successful prom mod myself. If any of you trust me I could help. I am in the Northen California and Southern California at various times. Though I doubt any of you would need help I can also upgrade the drives while I'm at it - http://tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/sho...d.php?t=412679

So you've socketed the PROM, but you haven't reprogrammed it, right?
