    compiling drivers

    Am I correct in my thinking that as long as I have the correct kernel source code as well as the source code for the driver, I should be able to compile the working driver using a linux machine, regardless of the kernel running the linux machine?

    Doesn't really matter what kernel your host machine is running so long as you set up your cross-compiler correctly. I've compiled kernels under Fedora Core and Cygwin (under WinXP) with no problems.
