Unfortunately, it is now too late to do further searches for Blade Runner. The last showing for a while has aired.

Edit: Even though there are no further showings, I was able to find this in the /GuideIndexV3/Title database:

    Code:
    BLACKOUT	5336e6
    BLADE	42e4f	0010940a500a00f012
    BLADE RUNNER	331bd9	0c200a012 52debc	0c200a012

{snip rant} If all you are going to do is keep blithely repeating "it should work" without helping to pin down the cause (by following some of the things I suggested) then I can't help you.

Are you talking about a search in TWP or a wishlist on the TiVo? I don't recall that being a criteria in the TWP search utility. I'll look again when I get home tonight.
The very first field on the form is a drop-down selector for "Search By" which includes an option to search by "Title Keyword".

It wasn't a rant. Nothing I said was unreasonable, nor was the tone heated.

I did everything you asked, and a number of the things you asked me to do I had already done and posted the results before you asked. Please name one request of yours with which I did not comply.

Yeah, I found that, of course, when I got back to my house. The fact it finds nothing now is not really diagnostic, since the show is no longer in the schedule.

"tivoweb stop" doesn't work if the config file contains carriage returns (e.g. it's been edited on Windoze).

To fix this, change line 52 in the tivoweb shell script from
    Code:
        echo "${rhs//\"/}"
    to
    Code:
        echo `echo "${rhs//\"/}" | tr -d '\r' `

OK, here is another one, although this one might be a bit different. Once again, applying a search for genre Movies with no Title field fails to find 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. A search for "20,000" as either a Title or a Title Keyword fails to bring it up, as does a Title search for "20000", but a Title Keyword search for either "20000" or "Leagues" does:

    Code:

    Thanks for the info.

Searching for "20,000" will fail because TWP isn't stripping out the comma - it probably should

But you say a Title search for "20000" doesn't find it either Is that with Category set to Movies or not?
A Title search for "20000" with Category = "All" simply must find it.

I wonder if it's because these films have multiple top-level genres? ("Movies" & "Comedy") No that can't be it - "Blade Runner: The Final Cut" had multiples and that one was ok.

Does Anger Management show if you search for category = "Comedy" and no title?

p.s. Sorry to keep asking for your actions but I'm in the UK and we don't have the same programmes as you (nor do we have multiple top-level genres) so I can't see what you are seeing

Nope, it doesn't. I tried it on two different TiVos, and the result is the same. With Category set to "All", Sub-Category set to "Don't specify...", and the search string set to "20000", a Title search does not find 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but a Title Keyword search does.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it does.

That's perfectly alright. We're all in this hobby together.

Could it be that TWP is giving up after it finds the first genre? I don't recall whether Blade Runner put "movies" first in the genres list or not, but neither of the two most recent programs do.

I can't search for "Fantasy" as the genre, because "Fantasy" is not one of the genres in the drop-down. A search for "Sci-Fi and Fantasy" fails to find 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but then "Sci-Fi and Fantasy" is not the first listing in the genre field.

Oh, hey. Blade Runner is back in the listings, and surely enough, "movies" is not the first item in the genre field, "Science Fiction" is. Unfortunately, I can't search for "Science Fiction", either, because it also is not an option in the drop-down. There is a fly in the ointment, though. A search for "Sci-Fi and Fantasy" does find Blade Runner: The Final Cut. So both "Movies" and "Sci-Fi and Fantasy" find ...The Final Cut, but neither one finds Blade Runner. Maybe this is a bit more subtle than just the listing order? Could it be perhaps TWP quits if it doesn't understand one of the entries in the field? Is it bamboozled by the fact the first entry is "Science Fiction" (Blade Runner), or "Fantasy" (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea), or that "Comedy" is repeated in the list (Anger Management)?

Yes some of those are sub-categories, it's only top-level categories (numbered in the "1000" range) that you can select as the main genre.

I'm confused - there appear to be some inconsistencies in your database files. Could you e-mail me your /mfs/GuideIndexV3/Title and ~/TitleKeyword files so I can delve a bit deeper?

    Thanks for that.

Ok some of this I can explain and some of it I can't!

The issue with Anger Management is because TiVo has two top-level categories for this programme. This isn't "normal" but I think arises when Tribune change the top-level category for a showing some time after the original (i.e. a repeat).

Your issue with "20000" and with "Blade" I can't explain - these searches work just fine for me.

Can you confirm that you are running the latest revision of search.itcl ?

EDIT: modified search.itcl deleted - created a bug in search results!

I copied the attachment to one of my TiVos. That fixed Anger Management, but not the others.

    Bug in ForeachMfsFileTrans

There's a bug in ForeachMfsFileTrans{} such that it gets stuck in an endless loop if you are searching for a 'prefix' and the number of records retrieved is less than the batch size and it's not the last batch of records.

    E.g.
    ForeachMfsFileTrans fsid name type "/Preference/a/17" A 25 {...}

and there are > 25 records in ~/17 but < 25 records starting with A

(Also fix error in getGenreIndex{} where $::genreCats should be $::genrecats )
