I'm fairly certain that this caused from data inside the broadcast stream (maybe in the cc/xds area) that is related to the "Press thumbs up to record" message that is displayed during commercials of upcoming shows. I suspect that the message structure that the software is expecting has changed, and this is causing the TiVo grief when trying to process it. Further, I don't think it is the HR10 platform itself, just the old software that is being run on it. I experienced several reboots last Friday on a TivoHD (10:19 pm is the only specific time I recall) when still runnig the orginal 8.x. Since it has updated to 9.1 there have been no reboots. Sniffing around the bus, thanks to ADH's router plus, and looking through the idl's leads me to the TvVideoIPreviewTagData event. Dropping this event appears to alleviate the reboots, but could cause unwanted side affects. So, updating to the latest SW should fix this problem and is probably the safest thing to do.

Then the question becomes, how is it that the broadcast stations have control over DVRs? Can anyone explaine how they can force DVRs to malfunction?

    6.3e - rebooted 3 times today

My HR10-250 running 6.3e rebooted three times today during football games in HD OTA. Next time it happens, I'll get the log.

First that I've heard of 6.3e having the problem. Are all 6.3 versions succeptable?

I'm not willing to take the chance on reboots during Football. Saturday night I take my 6.3 HD's out and insert my 3.1.1f HD's to record football. It's a pain but it'd be a bigger pain to have multiple reboots screwing up my recordings.

Weird. I watched football on CBS (SD) all day yesterday....no problems. Matter of fact, no problems at all since I got 6.3e

FWIW, I did a manual upgrade to 6.3e a week or so ago. Life's been good since, till yesterday. Reboots every couple of hours. Looking at the logs, it's phone related. I can now cause a spontaneous reboot if I try to "Connect to the DVR service" or "make a test call now". I have it set to use the network for calls. It reboots during the "Preparing to call" phase.

I've never signed up for the 'gonna leave D cause my HR10 is a POS' hysteria, but this is now too much. Hello Comcast....

Reboot on the CBS Sunday Football Game

My HR10-250 rebooted once on the Sunday CBS Steeler football game at 1:39 EDT. Sounds like the same reboot mentioned in the post above. I was watching the recorded version, not live. No further reboots during the game.

Anyone else have the same reboot? I am running 6.3d. I can not get a successful phone call to upgrade!!!

OK, it's fixed. Remember with earlier versions we might set a dial prefix of ,#401 and add 'DebugBoard=true' if we wanted to use the network for daily calls? It looks like 6.3e does not like that. I had ,#401 in the dial prefix slot, and each time the unit would try to call, or I would try a test call or a 'connect to the DVR service now' call, I would get a reboot. I removed the ,#401, and now all seems well. Although I have removed the prefix, calls still go through the network however.

6.3e appears to be able to use the network for calls (if we would ever want to) without a dial prefix being set, as long as the 'DebugBoard=true' statement is in place.

    Just another day in paradise......

Excuse the ignorance but then what. Run it?
    Edit it?
