I'm REALLY getting tired of having to download my TV programs from BitTorrent. Now I have to do it again, and it looks like this rebooting thing has been happening from at least as early as Friday.

I think there might be something to the idea that this is from CBS...

I just did some checking, and the oldest program I have that is borked with a reboot in the middle is an ep of Kid Nation that I grabbed just to see what all the fuss is about. That was Wednesday, and it rebooted in the middle. Friday it hosed Stargate Atlantis, b/c it was also recording Numb3rs on the HD East CBS feed... Amazingly, Thursday was NOT screwed up at all... I don't record CBS on Saturday, and here we are today.

So who knows, and I certainly don't know who to complain to, b/c we all know how amazingly smart the CSRs are at Dave.

I turned the tuners on 1 of my dvrs to 2 standard def channels and put it on stanby. It hasn't rebooted in a couple of hours since. The other 1 is on CBS HD OTA and has rebooted 3 times this hour. I have another 1 that is unhacked and has 6.3e. It has been on CBS HD OTA all day with no reboots.

Hmm. Another observation is that I record everything, and watch almost NOTHING live. But I was watching the CBS HD feed yesterday of the UF/UGA game, and it rebooted on me at least twice during that game. I was watching on the buffer to cut the commercials, and I kept losing that AND the 6 minutes the dang thing takes to recycle.

I'm watching ER right now while the live tuner is still on HD CBS-E... And it hasn't rebooted yet. BUT, if the schedule holds, it should reboot in about another 20 minutes or so. It seems to like crashing at about 25 after for some reason.

And it's now after midnight EST... And it still hasn't crashed again. Hmm. Maybe they have quit screwing around? I hope?

mine was on cbs hd ota as well - a rerun of csi. that definitely seems like a common thread, and the fact that it's ota seems to rule out directv involvement.

    weird.

I see exctly the same error in my logs. However, I see it as a Fox (WSVN Miami 7-1) thing. It just doesn't want to watch the World Series. I can watch the WSVN SD sat feed with D* locals OK, just not OTA. It will reboot on watching a Fox recording as well. If I stay off 7-1, no reboots. I'm at 6.3c.

More likely there isn't an actual HD feed presented that late. My guess is there's some bad data in the stream causing a "buffer overflow" or at the very least, delivering something to the Tivo it cannot handle.

ya know, I think 100Tbps may be on to something with CBS. My 540 took the 9.1 upgrade and all my CBS season passes were still there, but had "no future showings" of the nightly news. I recreated them. Yesterday I noticed the same thing again. I wonder if cbs/tivo is having issues. Also, look at the guide, is it "to be announced" at all? I noticed it had rebooted every so often and thought it was something else, now I wonder.

I also noticed a show recorded last Friday night on CBS in primetime did this, too.

    HR10-250 running 6.3c.
Agree with CBS common factor. Sorry I did not post that 8-1 in Indianapolis is CBS in my earlier thread. I thought it was local OTA issue but if people are having reboots with the satellite feed then it has to be in the original transmission not a local feed issue.

I am going to call D* and get escalated to technical. I have done this way back when with the Fox OTA audio drop outs issue. When I finally called about that D* said they were just made aware of the issue. I said it has been posted all over the internet forums we have know about this for over a month. The technicians answer made a valid point, he said if you don't call us to report the problem we can't trouble shoot a problem we don't know about.

Similar thing here. My friends unit is 6.3d and my unit I was watching the Colts was 6.3d. My other two units are 6.3e. So last night my friend and I set up recordings on CBS, three machines total. About 21 minutes into Cold Case reboot, friend called and his rebooted at the same time. Switched over to my other unit 6.3e and still going strong, checked back later and no reboot, this morning still no reboot.
I definitely think this is CBS related, but I think it could also have something with software version since both of our 6.3d rebooted at the same time and my 6.3e never missed a beat. My 6.3d unit did not download the software into mfs or it would be upgraded to 6.3e. So I do have one machine to compare with my other two when reboots occur. I am keeping a log of what channels both tuners are playing on all machines.

Just checked the HD TiVo forums at TCF and similar posting there. The common things I noticed was CBS and someone had 6.3c/d and forced a call an upgraded to 6.3e and had no more reboots. This adds a few more +1 to the "my 6.3e is not rebooting"

Well I have 6.3e in MFS right now... What will I lose if I force the upgrade? Will I need to completely re-hack everything again? The reason I ask is that I don't have access to the junk computer that I use for loading Tivo drives... My only desktop computer at the moment is a MacPro. I won't have access to the PC for a few more weeks.

Oh, and both tuners sitting on CBS HD (WCBS National East feed) while on standby has resulted in at least one more reboot, 40 minutes ago. Probably more than that. One tuner is now on WNBC and the other is on WABC... We shall see what happens during the day.

You will retain recordings. You will have to re-hack or follow guidelines here to upgrade and copy hacks without pulling drive

Even in standby the unit is still saving to the buffer so reboots would occur as if you were watching TV. As long as my theory about something in the stream is causing this is correct.

I don't have 6.3e in MFS and don't see a link for it in the image begging thread. Does anyone have the slices?

If you get something let me know as I have one machine without the slices either.
