I have a TiVo HD that I've been very happy with until recently when all these "Gold Star" ads showed up on TiVo Central and Now Playing.

In the Cleaning Up MFS thread, AlphaWolf was able to get rid of the ads in older version of the TiVo software by removing specific directories in MFS. Is it possible to remove these directories by mounting the TiVo drive to a PC (i.e. without a modded PROM) and have the TiVo still work but without the ads?
