    Problem with external drive

I installed the external eSATA drive on my DVR work good but if I lose power or reboot the DTV dvr it reformats the drive & I loose all my movies. Is this normal or is there something I can do to stop this?

That is definitely not normal. I don't have enough experience with using an external drive to make any suggestion other than suggest you check the DirecTV HD DVR threads at dbstalk.

I have 2 Directv HD DVR's, both with external drives. One of them that upgraded a while ago is working fine. The other one upgraded on March 9th and now when ever it reboots it formats the external drive. I tried the drive on my other DVR and it works fine and doesn't reformat at all. I called DirecTV about the problem and was told that I shouldn't be having the problem, this is the fist that they have heard of it and that it may be something wrong with my drive (I know there isn't where it works fine on the other DVR).
