    Ok, this is the first time I've attempted this on my own so apply at your own risk (Seriously! I have NOT tested these.):

    Code:
    array set patch_11.0d {
    0x005d3a14 "104000aa 100000aa"
    0x00773b38 "00008021 24100001"
    0x00b92bc4 "14400026 10400026"
    0x00656e40 "30b000ff 00008021"
    0x00656e64 "00e08821 24110000"
    0x0117bfa0 "30b000ff 00008021"
    }

    array set desc_11.0d {
    0x005d3a14 "noencrypt"
    0x00773b38 "backdoors"
    0x00b92bc4 "30secskip"
    0x00656e40 "cci1"
    0x00656e64 "cci2"
    0x0117bfa0 "cci3"
    }
    ...and in dd format:

    Code:
    11.0d
    disable enc
    backdoors
    30 sec skip
    cc1
    cc2
    and cc3

    echo -ne "\x10\x00\x00\xaa" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=1915412
    echo -ne "\x24\x10\x00\x01" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=3619640
    echo -ne "\x10\x40\x00\x26" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=7941060
    echo -ne "\x00\x00\x80\x21" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=2453056
    echo -ne "\x24\x11\x00\x00" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=2453092
    echo -ne "\x00\x00\x80\x21" | dd conv=notrunc of=tivoapp bs=1 seek=14139296
    There 11.0d tivoapp is only slightly different from the previous version so only two patch locations have changed (30secskip & cci3).

    Has the Kernel Changed?

    Has the Kernel changed between 11.0c and 11.0d? If it hasn't it would be easier to copy the 11.0c hacked kernel than killing the initrd in the 11.0d.

    The kernel is identical. For example, the gen06 (tivohd) kernel for both 11.0c and 11.0d shows this build information:
    Code:
    Linux version 2.4.20 (build@buildmaster64) (gcc version 3.3.4) #1 Fri Jan 16 18:10:51 PST 2009

    Just fyi, it looks like the bufferhack patches are identical to the 11.0c version. All of the patch locations in tivoapp are the same - even the filesize is identical. I didn't verify the patch location in the brf file but since that's been the same since 9.3 I would think it's safe to assume that hasn't changed either.

    No, and I used that on my THD. Tivoapp for the S3 is usually different.

    tivoapp has been identical for the S3/HD for some time (always?). the only filesystem differences between them consists of the kernel and hpk (/platform) slices. the goal is simplicity. i highly doubt tivo would start to deviate from this convention.

    OH, OK. I thought they were different. I have not yet ever hacked either of my S3 machines, so I was unaware. I do want to hack at least one of the S3s, though, as a backup and as a 3rd and 4th tuner, upon the occasions I need them.

    I noticed there are no more superpatches posted for the latest releases. Isn't the superpatch still necessary for MRV if you have encryption disabled? Or does this somehow not apply to SA units?
    Before PMing me: Iím not your personal tech support. If you have a question, ask in public so I don't have to repeat if somebody else asks. If you want images or slices, use emule. I will ignore all support PMs.

    SA units running recent sw don't need the full superpatch for MRV between units that have the same MAK. If all boxes have encryption disabled, then they can still MRV with eachother just fine.
