1TB Caviar Black in S2 DTivo?

I have been running a 500GB WD IDE drive in my DVR40 for a few years now, and I would like to upgrade to a 1TB. Seeing as the selection for 1TB IDE drives is nil, I was planning on using a SATA->IDE converter. My questions are:

1) Any particular brand/model of SATA->IDE converter recommended for this, or will they all pretty much work?

2) Will the Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB SATA work in my S2 Dtivo? This is the older version and not an 'advanced format" drive.

SATA->IDE converters work, although there is small performance penalty. I am currently running a 1 TB Samsung SATA drive in my HR10-250 DirecTiVo, which has an IDE connector.

Star-Tech makes a SATA->IDE converter that lets you connect two SATA drives. 1 drive is seen as the IDE master drive, the other as the IDE slave drive.

Apparently they aren't all created equal, and some work with some drives in some Tivos and some others work with other drives in other Tivos.

I've had 2 working in a standalone S2 dual tuner and a 3rd working in another one (all with JMicron chipset SATA/IDE adapters )for almost a year now, so I'd say the answer is probably yes.

Of course those Blacks run at 7200rpm and get a bit toasty, so I've got extra fans hanging underneath them.
