Anyone doing S3 PROM mods still

I've sent a PM to Omikron, but it looks like he hasn't logged in for a while, anyone else doing PROM mods?

As I've offered before, I wouldn't mind helping others. At the very least I guess I could supply pre-programmed chips and sockets. If you'd like, PM me and I'll try and help you out. However, I only have the TCD652160 prom image originally supplied by Omikron. Also, I use SST 39VF010 vs. the SST 37VF010 that is originally supplied...my programmer can't handle the 12V required for the latter..... the TiVoHD doesn't care. In fact, I'm doing another prom mod tonight. Let me know.

And now thanks to pc-reviewer I can offer the preprogrammed TCD648250 chips as well. Would be nice to see this forum come alive again....

Activity on forum is light. Need hardware help? I can supply preprogrammed proms: $10: 12 sold as of 8/2015. Email if interested. Don't check PM's very often any more.

I would agree with Plainbill. In practice tests I've found removal with hot air gun to be quite easy but the soldering of a working socket onto the nic card boards I was using for tests proved much harder.

As for the images, the TCD648250B (Series 3 OLED), TCD652160 (Series 3 HD), and TCD658000 (Series 3 HD XL) images can be found on the forums. The TCD652160 and TCD658000 (Series 3 HD and Series 3 HD XL) can use the same 1.06 image.

Links marked as (virgin) have had the original virgin file MD5 compared to the MD5 in the Master PROM Patch Locations thread from Omikron (first link above) on 2013-01-05.

PROM mods are back. I would like to thanks Dave20042004. I ordered 4 proms on Saturday, and they were in my mailbox on Monday, when I got back home from work. I got 4 proms for just $21 delivered.
Now for the trip to frys to pick up the chipquik SM removal kit.
