What happened here?
I have a dtivo with a subbed card, when I subscribed to dtv
I told them not to activate tivo. My dad visited from out of town
and did something to it and tivo has been working for 2 1/2
months with no bill. I looked in status menu and it says:
"not activated-0 days left" but it is still working! If I unplug the
phone line will it stay on? If it goes out will it go back to
normal? Any info would be appreciated.

Your TiVo service number has been activated by TiVo (they've heard of it), the account hasn't been paid or otherwise had a status given to it.

you're tivo will want to phone home every month
2)
your father did something that we know nothing about (or possibly had your tivo call in with his valid access card thereby associating your tivo with his account)

could go either way.. if it complains, you need to plug in the line, otherwise you don't

I guess I'll wait and see, If you you pay for a lifetime sub, does the box
still need to call in all the time?

At least once every thirty days or the tivo service will become inactive untill it succesfully makes a dailey call.
