    /# getprom ?
usage: getprom [-hostname] [-ipaddr] [-macaddr] [-bootparam] [-memconfig] [-videoc
onfig] [-gateway] [-Update filename] [-checksum] [-dump filename]

I believe "getprom -dump cccprom.bin" will do the trick.

You will have to be able to bash on the ccc tivo.

    Try chmod 755 <filename>

For whatever editor you are using.

    tryed Chmod as well

It says "operation not permitted" for any chmod command

ive also tried chown and it says unknown user and gives a group name but I am logged in as root I should be able to access these files, right?

    Thanks

Sounds like you need to chmod 755 chattr

You could always just transfer the file to your PC.

Are you using cp to floppy? If so you must mount the floppy with -t vfat. For example:
    mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/dosfloppy
If you don't use the -t vfat the names of the files will be shortened.

    known good ones

I downloaded a zip file named hack.zip from this website but
    they do not work either.

I get either permission denied or unable to execute binary.

I think I might just have to continue this project tomorrow!

I need to be able to edit this rc.sysinit file so I can re-image and send up a image everyone can play with but it's starting to p**** me off...

If I copy the file out of /etc/rc.d/ I can modify it with chmod 777 or 755 and then it works but anything inside this directory is secure.
Does anyone know how to remove security or whatever is protecting this directory????

Also, I am booted into linux with my tivo drive attached. Is this my problem. Can I use the chmod and chattr commands in linux. It only makes sense that you should be able to use linux. Since I do not have a bash prompt on my CCC tivo box???

    Thanks

    Directories

The directories are too large to upload

    /tvbin = 32 mb compressed
/var = included in this post

the var you posted looks like its the var off of hda4 or hda7. the var that we want is on hda9. ie:

    mount /dev/hdX4 /mnt
    mount /dev/hdX9 /mnt/var

    then grab the var directory.

    rc.sysinit

here is a modified rc.sysinit from the CCC, i have removed the serial # check, as well as the bash prompt logout reboot, as well as any calls to custom splash screens. I DO believe this "streamlined" version does make the unit boot faster...

EDIT: forgot to include the "SubTest" which has now been added
