EndPadPlus - for all your soft padding needs - includes DUAL TUNER support and more!

EndPadPlus * for all your soft padding needs
    ==========================================

Adds padding at the start and end of every program as long as it does not
    conflict with another recording.

This script was derived from sanderton's EndPad 1.3.3. The most notable
improvement is the addition of DirecTiVo Dual Tuner support. Other
refinements include modularization of code, improved command line handling,
improved and verbose logging, suggestion equalization, and more.

Thanks to sanderton for allowing me to start from his existing code and
to splitsec for helping during the debugging process. Some thanks from the
original EndPad include Dibblah and ccwf for suggestions and refinements and
LJ for log rotation code. Additionally, some portions of the new code were
based upon code taken from TivoWebPlus, which is a collaborative effort.

    Latest release: 1.2.3
    Release timestamp: January 3, 2017 @ 1:30am MST

    =======================================
    Latest improvements/fixes:
-- fixed TiVo software identification problem with version 11.0n (. after n instead of -) (falcontx)

    =======================================
    Features:
-- user-defined start and end padding
    -- dual tuner support
    -- optional suggestion equalization
    -- optional back-to-back exemption

    Compatibility:
    -- All series
    -- All models
    -- All software versions

Thank you! I've been meaning to try it but dual tuner support was all I needed to finally take the plunge.

It didn't want to start until I manually created /var/log/endpad.log. After that it started up fine.

Now I just need to see what I like better; not missing the start of things or not having to fast forward to the start of things.

Interesting. It should automatically create the file. Was it giving any sort of error message? I'd like to fix it, but I am unable to duplicate the error on my system. Thanks.

It doesn't when it starts up
    Code:
    tivo:/var/tmp$ /var/hack/endpadplus.tcl 2 2
    EndPadPlus 1.0 starting up
    Please see /var/log/endpad.log for details.
I checked and saw that endpadplus wasn't running
    Code:
    tivo:/var/hack$ ls -al /var/log/endpad.log
ls: /var/log/endpad.log: No such file or directory
    Code:
    >/var/log/endpad.log
    Try again
    Code:
    tivo:/var/hack$ /var/hack/endpadplus.tcl 2 2
A stale PID file was found and has been deleted.
This means that this script terminated unexpectedly last time. Loading now.
The errors logged (if any) before the last termination were:

couldn't stat "/var/log/endpad.log": no such file or directory
        while executing
    "file mtime "$logfile""
        (file "/var/hack/endpadplus.tcl" line 455)

    EndPadPlus 1.0 starting up
    Please see /var/log/endpad.log for details.
    Sure enough
    Code:
    tivo:/var/hack$ ls -al /var/log/endpad.log
    -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 1227 Feb 1 04:12 /var/log/endpad.log

Thanks. Releasing 1.0.1 to fix this.

This looks like it will be a great tool, falcontx. It started up fine on both a Hughes HDVR2 and a Philips DSR7000, both with 3.1.1b. Thanks for the work on this!

One question about the way endpad works: if a program is already padded through 'normal' means, will endpad add another minute on top of the already-scheduled extra minute?

Looks good here also. Started fine on a T60 running 2.5.2.

No. It will only add padding in excess of what already exists. In other words, if an existing scheduled recording already has 1 minute of padding and you tell EPP to soft pad 3 minutes, it will add 2 minutes to the existing minute. If the program already had 3 (or more) minutes, it would do nothing.

What if an originally scheduled program has 3 minutes of padding and you tell EPP to pad only 1 minute, will it not record the extra 2 minutes? I hope that made sense.

is there any advantage to using this over the sanderton code if you have a SA tivo?

Again, if the program already has more padding than you tell EPP to soft pad, it will do nothing, thus leaving the existing padding alone.

If you're using a stand-alone unit, the only advantage that EPP would have would be the ability to equalize suggestions. By using the -seq option in EPP, you are able to prevent EPP from deleting a suggestion just to pad another suggestion. The current version of sanderton's code does not allow you to do this.

actually, thats a great feature. I guess otherwise the modules use equivalent systems resources, etc.
