Copy to SD card to use as IDE HDD.

Plug in my old TiVo Series 1 and have the Ethernet card in it. Can go to it's web page and do a lot.

It's only a 20GB hard drive. Old WD and still works now.

I thought because only 20GB get a SD card to replace it. I got a IDE to SD card adapter.

Got a Ubuntu Linux server and I plug the 20GB TiVo hard drive in it with USB.

I thought I just DD copy it to the SD card but it don't show up!

If I look at the error log on my server the last lines say this.

    Code:
[668209.031208] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Timeout while waiting for setup device command
[668214.407307] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Timeout while waiting for setup device command
[668214.615249] usb 2-6.2: device not accepting address 28, error -62
[668214.616009] usb 2-6-port2: attempt power cycle
Could it be a locked drive maybe?

I am not sure it even sees it. Can hear it spinning and some LED lights are one the USB to IDE have but not flashing.

Any one know why it is not showing up?

O yes if I do get this to work on a 32GB SD card can I turn off some how the live video 30 minute recording? So it don't keep writing to the SD card to wear it out.

Mostly just want to keep the old recordings on it and play them with the TiVo. It's old home videos I put on it with the Ethernet way back years ago.

Tested it out using a old Boot CD instant cake for this same TiVo. It installed it. It don't boot in my TiVo. I have to test it more. I put the SD card on my server and looks like it sees it the same way from the error file.

[668237.399431] usb 2-6.2: device not accepting address 30, error -62
[668237.401863] usb 2-6-port2: unable to enumerate USB device
    [679588.649052] usb 1-6.1: new high-speed USB device number 23 using xhci_hcd
Must need some tool to read it but still why can't just DD copy it. It don't see it as a /dev

Got this photo of it with the SD card in it.

On my Google drive this photo is.

It mounts going side ways on 2 places were the real hard drive mounted in the TiVo. But have to put it side ways some.

The active LED don't flash on the IDE to SD so don't look like it's booting from it. Not sure what it wrong. My run instant cake on it again.

I had to take the USB-C off and put it back in. It is a USB-C to USB 3.0 and that is were I put the HDD. Then I could see it.

But I copied it on a old PC with IDE with a live Ubuntu

It looked like this photo screen shot.

    Screenshot-1.png

But it still don't boot. The LED just on and it don't go on and off.

    I don't get it why it don't work. It's a 32GB SD to IDE.
