danger DVD Specs Book B ....?

I've been reading for a long time about how the newer players are far more picky about what kind of disks they read than the older ones are. Folks in my opinion this is only going to get worse. My thoughts lead me to believe that copywrite agreements are getting stricter, and requirements to conform to "the specs" (set forth in 1996) is not getting any less stringent.

I contacted Jdiner a while back about DVD specs that he has mentioned needing to complete his project in the best possible way. Yesterday I sent him a link to help him rebuild some bookmarks he said he had lost and to hopefully get him a little farther down the road on this project. This link http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%2....ac.nz&rnum=50 he said, contains the most detailed information to date, that he remembers having once found. As long as this document is, it is not everything that is needed and included with Book-B. Book B is even longer

ANY HELP ON THIS PROJECT IS REQUESTED. Needed is DVD Specs Book-B.

The needed specs were developed in 1996. I think they were actually compiled by Toshiba for the most part, but I am not at all certain of that. The cost is $5000 to join the consortium. When a person joins the loosely termed, DVD consortium, he or she is afforded his or her own "branded" copy of what is also loosely refered to as, "dvd specs" or "the books" (a AND b). There are several books and they are described in one of the links provided in the zip file below. All Jdiner needs is book b. What this "branding" is, nobody knows. Suspision is that the branding is why they books are so hard to come by. My guess is, it would cost a company such as Sony, Panasonic, or whoever far more than required $5000 paid to join, if such a company was to go on record as being "kicked out" of the consortium for questionable trade practices.

The links in the zip file are what I have found which is not much. Please see what you can find and lets see if we can help Jdiner out with WHAT HE NEEDS for a change. After all, it's getting him what he wants that eventually gets all of us what we want!

According to a conversation yesterday the specs would go a very long way to "filling in so many gaps". Thanks to all who are willing to help in this research endeavor.

oh and... HAIL TO THE CHIEF

Thank you Jdiner, for all your help and many contributions to this hobby.
