Hacks supported with TiVo 7.2.1

Has anyone been able to confirm what hacks are not working with the new version of TiVo 7.2.1.

Currently I am using superpatch67-all, TivoWebPlus 1.2.1, endpadplus with TiVo 7.2 and would like to know if any of these hacks get broken with 7.2.1.

I have read that 7.1 has kindly posted the patches for superpatch67-all for 7.2.1 but was wondering about the rest of the hacks that people are running.

Thanks.

so far all the stuff I had in 7.2 and 5.1 work in 7.2.1. TWP, Endpad, mfs stuff, elseed, telnetd, cron, ftpd etc. Only thing I am not sure of is where to apply the nocso patch for non-encrypted recordings. I have SD-H400, so never used superpatch.

How did you get Elseed to work. I have problems with a front buffer when running elseed or ncid?

I have had it working for a long time now, I think since 5.1 actually. Took me a long time to get it working and I honestly forgot where I got each of the parts that work. I tried so many different combinations of libs & addons. I have elseed, elseed.conf, and libosd.a in my elseed dir. I also have some other osd stuff in my hack/bin section, like newtext2osd, fly, and osd. Not sure if any of that stuff is used. figure it was working so I kept it all there. Can post/pm stuff if you want.

That would be great if you could post as I have not got mine working still.

Attached is my elseed directory. Just put it somewhere. My command line is:

/hack/elseed/elseed -s 15 -c /hack/elseed/elseed.conf -l /var/log/elseed.log &

I also have a "sleep 200" in my rc.mrpenguin file which has all my hacks and stuff.

Try this out and see if it works. If it does not, let me know and we can see what else I may have that is needed, as I said, I forgot how much stuff I tried.

I just updated to a HUMAX w/DVD and it is running 7.2.1. How do I get to the BASH prompt? Nothing that I have tried seems to work as it did on my Series 1. Should I just stay with my old reliable series 1?

You could also try NCID, I've had good luck with it.

Get a working serial port connection first, but realize that with the series-2 machines it is on a different port.

Start by reading the newbie mini-faq, particularly the question labeled (A5).

Have you tried ncid with 7.2.1 as I could not get it to work with 7.2. I keep getting a could not create front buffer when trying to run out2osd which is used by ncid?

I'm afraid not, like you mentioned in your OP I haven't yet taken the v7.2 plunge yet. Still running on 4.0.1b on all my S2SA units (TCD240's), mainly because I've got them working the way I want them. I'm also worried about the reports I've read about MFS_FTP inserts not working on later system software.

I can tell you this: I had problems with NCID v0.50, so I went back to trusty v0.40.

I think I found it. I am using a file based hex editor so the following address is file relative, not virtual. I recorded a show to test it and it appears to work. I am not an expert at this so use this patch at your own risk.

Code:

All values are in hex

Version Offset Original Patched
7.2.1-oth-01-2-540 188068 0c16aed9 3c020000

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for that. I had just come across this post where 7.1 uploaded a upgraded superpatch that included 7.2.1 and running that worked.

Thanks again for posting that, it should also help any that come across this thread wondering the same thing I did.

Anybody ever seen: 7.2.1-oth-01-2-240? My 240 is running 7.2.1-oth-01-2-140 and it seems to be okay with that...weird.

Here we go again. Just got bufferhack, no cso, etc working and now there is a version 7.2.1a coming out. Does this mean that all these hacks won't work? How do I check to see if they work or not?
